 Zusammenfassung: Eine sanfte Geschichte um die Schwestern Betty, Meg, Jo und Amy.Beth ist die stille musikalische, Meg die Schöne, Jo die jungenhafte mit Talent zum Geschichten schreiben und Amy die jüngste und die Künstlerin der Familie.  Zusammenfassung: Ich weiss nicht mehr ganz genau, wie ich auf dieses Buch gestoßen bin, aber ich glaube es war über eine Amazon Empfehlung auf Basis eines anderen Buches, welches mir sehr zusagte. Ich wusste vorher nicht sehr viel über das Buch und das war auch sehr gut so.
Sehr kurz gesagt, geht es in dieser Geschichte um die berühmte Schriftstellerin Vida Winter. Was sie neben dieser Berühmtheit aber so besonders macht, ist die Tatsache, dass sie im Laufe ihres Lebens jedem neuen neugierigen Reporter, der sie über ihr eigenens Leben befragt, immer eine neue Biographie erzählte.
Eines Tages bekommt Magaret, eine junge literaturbegeisterte Frau, die im Buchladen ihres Vaters arbeitet, einen Brief. In diesem wird sie von Vida Winter gebeten, deren wahre Biographie aufzuschreiben.
Mit ihrer eigenen komplizierten Lebensgeschichte im Gepäck, zieht Magaret zu der inzwischen totkranken Vida und macht sich an die Arbeit.

 Zusammenfassung: Dieses Buch ist kein Roman, sondern eine Dokumentation der vielen möglichen Wege die ein menschlicher Körper nach seinem Ableben gehen kann. Gut soritert in einzelnen Kapiteln lernt man hier genaueres über Dinge die man zum Teil schon wusste - Anatomie im Medizinstudium, Dinge, die einen überraschen - der etwas realere Crash Test Dummy und die Beerdigung der Zukunft, und Dinge von denen man nicht sicher ist, ob man sie wissen wollte- medizinischer Kanibalismus.
Das ist nur eine kleine Auswahl von dem was Mary Roach uns vorstellt.

 Summary: Emily, an attorney, has had a hard time. A divorce and an attemted murder. She wins a small fortune selling stock she got from a friend and former client. She uses the money she gets out of this to buy a house in Lake Spring which belonged to her family once 100 years ago and which carries the mysterious story of a ancestor dissapearing - the young Madeleine.
While woorking on building a swimming pool the cadaver of Martha is found who dissapeared 4 years ago. With her also lie the remains of Madeleine. And they are not the only vicitims.
Soon rumor has it that a reincarnated serial murder is living among them.

 Summary: Kay grew up as the daughter of the gardener of the Carringtons, a very rich family. Today she is married to Peter Carrington. Unfortunately for 22 years he had to live with being a murder suspect in the case of the young woman Susan. And not only that - his first wife also died under circumestances which did not exclude murder.
The dying mother of Susan engages an investigator to try and being the person responsible, whom she believes to be Peter as well, to prison.
When all the evidence turns more and more against Peter, Kay soon is the only one left believing in his innocence.

 Summary: A disoriented student start another subject of studies far away from California and his parents who consider him a good-for-nothing. Since Greek is the only thing for which he has some talent and therefore an interest he decides to study that. Whily this is refused to him at first, because the onlny professor for Greek gives his lessons to a small exclusiv group of 5 students only. He manages to be taken in, nevetherless. His fellow students exert some fascination on him, but they seem to keep a secret which he will soon learn. But that is only the beginning. One of the group is soon killed by his friends.

 Summary: Morrie was Mitch's professor in college. Completely trapped in his everyday life and not very happy he learns that his earlier mentor sufferes from a severe disease and only has a few months left to live. He visits him for old times sage and this one visit turns into a weekly meeting with Morrie giving his last class with the subject "how to live" for Mitch and the rest of the world.
